Bulgaria and Eastern Europe now have a representative at the highest level in the European airport association

Jesus Caballero, the CEO of Sofia Airport, was elected as a member of the Board of ACI EUROPE

Jesus Caballero, the CEO of SOF Connect - the operator of Sofia Airport, was elected as a member of the Board of the most important and influential European association of airports - ACI EUROPE. Thus, our country and Eastern Europe now have a representative at the highest level in the organization. The elections took place during the ACI EUROPE Annual Congress & General Assembly this week in Istanbul, Turkey.

„It is a great honor for me to represent and proactively work for the interests of our airports, especially in Eastern Europe. In this region we have significant potential for development and growth in connectivity, infrastructure, technology, and sustainability.

I believe that our airports have much to contribute, and together, we have the responsibility to serve our society. At Sofia Airport, we actively collaborate and support our airport community, and I am delighted to continue contributing and advocating for our industry on the ACI EUROPE Board.“, said Jesus Caballero.

Together with Jesus Caballero the following airport leaders were also appointed to the Board of ACI EUROPE for a first term: Selahattin Bilgen - CEO of iGA Istanbul Airport, Lukas Brosi – CEO of Zürich Airport, Fanny Charles – CEO of the French company SEALAR, Andrzej Ilków – CEO of Polish Airports — Polskie Porty Lotnicze S.A., Ken O’Toole – CEO of Manchester Airports Group, Laila Odina – CEO of Riga Airport and  Christian Poulsen – CEO of Copenhagen Airports.

ACI EUROPE represents over 500 airports in 55 countries. Its members facilitate over 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe. Air transport supports 13.5 million jobs, generating €886 billion in European economic activity (4.4% of GDP). In response to the Climate Emergency, in June 2019 the members of the association committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions for operations under their control by 2050, without offsetting. Based in Brussels, the organization leads and serves the European airport industry and maintains strong links with other ACI regions throughout the world.
