Competition “Start 4.0”

Leading manufacturing companies announce initiative for digital transformation in Bulgarian industry

The competition “Start 4.0” will digitalize two successful enterprises free of charge

The Bulgarian offices of a few global companies announced the beginning of the competition “Start 4.0”. Its goal is to support the Bulgarian industrial community on the path of digital transformation in the manufacturing sector. The main organizer of the initiative is Schneider Electric Bulgaria which has provided the prize. Two enterprises will be awarded in the race – they will receive free-of-charge licenses for three digital applications by Schneider united by a common architecture, as well as a full integration of the project.

In the course of the competition, all participants will have access to free consultations about the applications. Further on, consultations will enhance their awareness of data collection by machines, virtual reality support and other up-to-date practices, part of Industry 4.0. The result from all this is cutting operational costs, raising effectiveness and productivity and improved business results.  These are also the key challenges facing the world’s industry today, and the ultimate goal is to make sure that the Bulgarian industry progresses at a good rate in the light of global trends.

The contest is open to all enterprises manufacturing consumer goods in the territory of Bulgaria. They can be either owned by international companies or fully local; either selling products on the Bulgarian market or abroad.

The initiative for digital transformation is implemented in partnership with the Professional Association for Robotics and Automation (PARA), and with the involvement of Liebherr-Hausgeräte Marica and of Mondelez International represented by the Svoge chocolate factory. Partners are going to nominate their members of the jury and will support the process of consulting participants in a way that would clearly indicate the benefits of digitalization and would facilitate filling in the application bids of the candidates in the contest. “We have purposefully decided not to add a member of the jury from our trade office in Bulgaria”, said Radoslav Koshkov, Schneider Electric Country General Manager for Bulgaria, Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo. “Our representative will be Mariya Topchiyska, Plant Manager of our Smart Factory, who has relevant experience in manufacturing. Our partners will also name persons who are in the front line of industry, because digital transformation is taking place at the front line”, he added.

All details about the competition will be discussed at a virtual event at the end of May when the architecture of the prize will be presented extensively, and the lineup of the jury will be announced. The full terms and conditions of the contest are accessible on the website of Schneider Electric Bulgaria https://www.se.com/bg/bg/work/campaign/case-study/local/industrial-contest.jsp.
