Another recognition for the Pernod Ricard Group
With its ‘Lead’ status for a third consecutive year, the Pernod Ricard Group has been recognized as one of only 40 companies worldwide (and the only one in the wine and spirits sector) for demonstrating its continued commitment and progress in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and its Ten Principles for Responsible Business. Since joining the Global Compact in 2003, Pernod Ricard has been actively involved in several working groups that seek to achieve greater alignment between business and sustainability.
Recently, the PERNOD RICARD Group also joined BUSINESS FOR NATURE, a global coalition of influential organizations, thriving companies and communities united in their efforts and commitments to reduce environmental impact.
How is this commitment of the Group projected in the efforts of its structures in the Balkans and in Bulgaria?
Predrag Amidzic, head of the newly formed PERNOD RICARD BALKANS business cluster and Managing Director of PERNOD RICARD BULGARIA, said that the participation in the coalition is another confirmation of the key directions in which each unit of the Group works in terms of the environment. ‘Preserving biodiversity and regenerative agriculture, using degradable packaging, reducing water consumption and reducing carbon emissions are among the company’s main commitments. By 2025, we plan to ban all promotional items made from single-use plastic and 100% of our packaging to be recyclable, compostable, reusable or biodegradable, and 100% of the electricity used to be from renewable sources.
Efforts to protect the environment and biodiversity are reflected not only in production and packaging, but even in distribution. By 2030, we will pilot 5 new circular ways of distributing wine and spirits and help increase the recyclability rate in our markets. In our efforts we partner with other companies to exchange good practices. Of course, we rely most on our most valuable resource - our employees, whose commitment, knowledge and ethics help us move forward.’
