French Tech Sofia has been renewed for the 2026–2028 French Tech cycle
La French Tech is an initiative supported by the French government. Through the French Tech Capitals and Communities label, it recognizes local teams helping connect, support, and promote French Tech ecosystems around the world.
With this renewal, Sofia remains part of a global network of 125 French Tech communities, in 57 countries, alongside cities such as New York, London, Tokyo, Berlin, Barcelona, and many others.
This is a recognition of what has been built so far, and a starting point for what comes next.
It is also a strong signal for Sofia: a city with real tech talent, ambitious founders, international companies, and a growing place in the European innovation landscape.
Over the past year, French Tech Sofia has started taking a new shape:
🌐 We launched a new website, about time!
🎤 We continued our monthly afterwork events with amazing speakers
🍸 We hosted our first flagship event at the French Embassy
📣 We welcomed more people into the community, with over 1,000 new followers here on LinkedIn
It may sound like a small list, but for a volunteer-led community, it matters 🙂
Every event, conversation, introduction, post, and company profile helps make the ecosystem a little more visible and a little easier to join.
Sofia already has many founders, individuals, companies, and initiatives doing great work.
Our role is to help connect some of these dots, especially between Bulgaria, France, and the wider European tech network.
For this new cycle, our executive team continues with familiar faces: Wilfried Durand takes on the presidency, alongside Zdravka Kambourova, Othmane Boumzebra, Maximilien Vohnout (from Paris), and Vessela Todorova-Mosettig, who has been a board member and supporter of the community since day one.
The renewed label gives us three more years to keep building: more visibility, more community moments, more France-Bulgaria connections, and more stories from the ecosystem.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to French Tech Sofia so far: founders, companies, board members, partners, speakers, volunteers, institutions, and friends of the community.
