Ipsos Cost of Living Monitor

We're delighted to share with you the latest edition of the Ipsos Cost of Living Monitor. This comprehensive report delves into the nuanced perspectives of individuals across 32 countries, capturing their sentiments amidst the evolving economic landscape.

Key insights from this seventh edition include:

- Anticipated Price Increases: On average, 65% expect inflation to rise in their country over the next 12 months, an increase of 7 percentage points since April.

- Economic Worries: 37% of people feel worse off now compared to the pre-pandemic era, reflecting ongoing financial pressures.

- Perceptions of Immigration: There's a growing sense that immigration is a driver of inflation, with 56% identifying it as a cause, up 4 percentage points since April.

- Growing Economic Divide: Those with low and middle incomes are increasingly finding it difficult to cope compared to earlier this year.

- Taxation vs. Public Spending: While there's a broader desire for tax cuts, preferences vary significantly across countries.

With consumers unwilling to tolerate further increases, there are real challenges over how to differentiate one’s offering and innovate to retain customers in the face of strong price competitionsays Ben Page, CEO of Ipsos.
